About The Project

Location: Gulfport,MS

The MS Aquarium in Gulfport, Mississippi, features three distinctive buildings clad in RHEINZINK prePATINA® blue-grey diamond flat-lock wall tiles and Soprema Alsan RS Liquid Applied Roof System. These buildings are designed with a rounded, guitar-pick shape, composed of three curved walls that flare outward as they rise. Each building varies in size and shape, but to achieve a uniform appearance in their overall massing, different panel sizes were used for each structure.

The Challenges

01

The project involved a unique material with particular handling requirements, leading to uncertain waste percentages.

Coils were sourced from Germany, highlighting the importance of precision in material procurement and coordination.

03

The fabrication of panels for the MS Aquarium required close coordination with the sheet metal shop.

04

Find within budget equipment rental solutions to address logistical complexities in panel installation

The Solutions

We developed a specific takeoff process to accurately determine the required materials for each building, optimizing resource allocation. Collaborating closely with the metal shop, we ensured their production capacity met our daily installation needs.

Through coordinated efforts with the on-site team, we implemented daily tracking of installations to manage material and labor costs effectively. Additionally, a cost-sharing plan with subcontractors efficiently managed equipment rental, optimizing costs and logistics for the installation
